U.S. signs science & technology cooperation agreement with Latvia

On September 4 in Riga, Latvia, the United States and the Republic of Latvia signed the Agreement Between the Government of the United States of America and the Government of the Republic of Latvia on Scientific and Technological Cooperation. The Agreement will expand cooperation in science and technology and deepen the vital partnership between the United States and Latvia.

The Scientific and Technological Cooperation Agreement notes a mutual pledge to facilitate dynamic and effective international cooperation, recognize the value of open data for scientific research, technological cooperation, and evidence-based decision-making, and share goals of preserving norms such as openness, transparency, and equity. The United States and Latvia agree that scientific research and technological cooperation are important conditions for developing national economies and a basis for expanded trade.

The strong partnership between Latvia and the United States is rooted in a shared commitment to democracy, human rights, rule of law, and mutual respect. Through this agreement, both countries demonstrate their conviction that elevating international cooperation across scientific research and technology will strengthen bonds of friendship and understanding while advancing mutual goals to support scientific solutions to pressing global challenges.
