Antony J. Blinken, Secretary of State, issued a press statement on September 8, 2024, extending congratulations to the people of Tajikistan as they celebrate 33 years of independence on September 9.

"On behalf of the Government of the United States of America, it is my pleasure to wish the people of Tajikistan a heartfelt congratulations as Tajikistan marks 33 years of independence on September 9," Blinken stated.

He emphasized the United States' ongoing commitment to supporting Tajikistan's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. "We are proud of the strides we have made in our bilateral relationship over the past three decades," he said. Blinken highlighted areas for future cooperation including economic collaboration, environmental stewardship, shared security interests, expanding people-to-people ties, and fostering human rights.

"On this special day, we commend our Tajik partners as they work to realize a more prosperous, interconnected, and secure future for their people and the region," Blinken added.

"My sincerest congratulations as you celebrate your independence."
