Assistant Secretary Pyatt's upcoming visit to Houston focuses on clean energy initiatives

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

Department of State Bureau of Energy Resources (ENR) Assistant Secretary Geoffrey R. Pyatt will travel to Houston, Texas, from September 16-17 to address the Gastech 2024 Conference and meet with energy industry leaders and ministers from around the world.

On September 16, Assistant Secretary Pyatt will meet foreign government energy officials to advance bilateral and public-private initiatives that lower and eliminate emissions in support of the clean energy transition. He will also engage with industry executives about their companies’ international decarbonization and clean energy work. During these meetings, the Assistant Secretary will focus on diversifying energy supply chains, supporting transparent mineral supply chains, bolstering energy security for partners and allies, and facilitating clean energy procurement. He will also discuss efforts to reduce global methane emissions in the energy sector.

Finally, while in Houston, Assistant Secretary Pyatt will continue his work to secure additional support for Ukraine’s energy sector as the third winter of war approaches and Russia’s targeted strikes against Ukraine’s critical energy infrastructure continue.
