On behalf of the United States of America, I congratulate the people of Mali on the 64th anniversary of your independence.
Since that day, the United States has been a steadfast partner of the Malian people, helping to build a better future through cooperation in health, education, governance, security, and other key areas of mutual interest. The United States recognizes the many sacrifices and lives lost due to violent extremist organizations this year. We stand with the people of Mali in your efforts to achieve democracy, durable peace, and prosperity.
