Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III held a call with the United Kingdom's Secretary of State for Defence John Healey to discuss the situation in the Middle East, according to Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder.
During the conversation, Austin emphasized U.S. efforts to prevent Iran and its affiliates from taking advantage of the situation or escalating the conflict. The discussion also covered ongoing coordination between the United States and United Kingdom to ensure the safety of their personnel in the region.
Both leaders committed to maintaining close communication as events continue to develop.
