The United States has announced sanctions on one individual and three companies involved in weapons procurement and smuggling operations for the Houthis. These entities have been instrumental in providing the terrorist group with dual-use and military-grade materials necessary for manufacturing, maintaining, and deploying advanced missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles. Such activities pose a threat to U.S. interests and those of its allies.
In addition to these sanctions, the U.S. is also targeting an entity linked to illicit Houthi commercial shipments. This includes sanctioning two vessels associated with this entity, one of which has transported shipments for Sa’id al-Jamal, a Houthi financial official, and an affiliate of Iran’s Armed Forces General Staff.
The Houthis' reliance on global supply chains and illicit revenue generation supports their aggressive actions against commercial vessels in critical waterways as well as civilian populations. The U.S. remains committed to targeting individuals and organizations that aid the Houthis’ destabilizing efforts in the region.
The Department of the Treasury implemented these sanctions under counterterrorism authority Executive Order 13224, as amended. Further details can be found in the Treasury's press release.
