Netflix has announced the release of a new documentary film, "It's All Over: The Kiss That Changed Spanish Football," set to premiere globally on November 1st. Produced by You First Originals, the film delves into a pivotal moment in women's sports history following Spain's victory in the 2023 Women's World Cup.
The documentary includes statements from prominent players such as Jenni Hermoso, Alexia Putellas, Irene Paredes, and Aitana Bonmatí. These athletes share insights and analyze the social movement that emerged after their championship win. The film highlights themes of unity and friendship, exploring the significance of teamwork beyond individual achievements.
Directed by Joanna Pardos, the project offers an emotional journey beginning in 2022. It documents the challenges faced by these athletes as they pursued victory while setting a foundation for future generations in football. Pardos emphasizes that "the players recount their experiences they have lived over the past year from a place they've never spoken from before."
Executive co-producers Javier Martínez and Luis Miguel Calvo describe it as "a chronicle of resilience, passion, and triumph in the face of adversity." They highlight how this group of women not only transformed their sport but also challenged societal perceptions and structures.
The documentary also addresses a controversial incident involving an inappropriate kiss that sparked national debate and led to significant changes within Spanish women's football. This event is portrayed through personal testimonies from those directly involved.
