Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, Ms. Amanda Dory, is set to visit Germany and the United Kingdom from October 7-9. According to Pentagon Spokesman Lt. Col. Garron Garn, USMC, her trip will begin in Berlin on October 7, where she will engage in a strategic dialogue with Dr. Jasper Wieck from Germany's Ministry of Defense.
The visit highlights the strong defense relationship between the United States and Germany, characterized by military cooperation through NATO and a shared commitment to peace and stability in Europe and beyond. The discussions will focus on key foreign policy issues such as support for Ukraine and Israel and managing relations with China.
Following her visit to Germany, Ms. Dory will proceed to the United Kingdom to meet with British and Norwegian counterparts. The meetings aim to finalize a framework for trilateral multidomain cooperation among the U.S., UK, and Norway. Bilateral meetings are also planned to address significant issues within these defense relationships.
The engagements underscore the close defensive alliance between the United States and the UK, reflecting what has been described as a "special relationship."
