Meta has launched a new safety campaign, 'Scams se Bacho', featuring Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana. The initiative aims to educate the public on avoiding online scams and promoting safer digital practices. This campaign is a collaboration between Meta and three Indian government entities: the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB).
The campaign highlights common online scams and encourages vigilance among users. It also showcases Meta's safety features available on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, such as two-factor authentication, block and report options, and group privacy settings.
In the campaign film, Ayushmann Khurrana plays a wedding guest who helps others avoid falling victim to scams using his quick thinking. "We recognize the severity of the rising incidents of online scams," said Shivnath Thukral, Vice President and Head of Public Policy at Meta India. He emphasized that addressing this issue requires cooperative measures across the ecosystem.
Ayushmann Khurrana expressed his enthusiasm for participating in the initiative. "In today’s digital landscape... it’s crucial that we stay vigilant," he stated. He highlighted the importance of using Meta's safety tools to empower individuals to control their online security.
Meta has invested significantly in safety measures, with over 40,000 employees working globally on security issues since 2016. This includes $20 billion invested in teams and technology, along with 15,000 content reviewers operating in more than 70 languages worldwide.
