The U.S. Department of State recently hosted 13 international musicians and music professionals as part of its Global Music Diplomacy Initiative. This initiative aims to use music as a diplomatic tool to promote peace and democracy. The event was organized through the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), which serves as the department's leading professional exchange program.

Participants in this program came from 13 different countries and engaged with their American counterparts to share expertise and best practices on how music can drive positive social change, empower youth, and encourage cross-cultural collaboration. These activities contribute to the global creative economy.

The group, comprising musicians, songwriters, executives, educators, directors, and producers, visited Washington D.C., Detroit, Kansas City, and Los Angeles. During these visits, they participated in discussions, workshops, and collaborative sessions with American music professionals. Key topics included preserving musical and cultural heritage, effective music management and production techniques, and strategies for using music to support community development and engage disenfranchised youth.

The IVLP provides short-term visits to the United States for current and emerging foreign leaders across various fields. It offers participants firsthand experience of the United States while fostering long-lasting relationships with American counterparts. To date, more than 200,000 international visitors have participated in the IVLP program.
