Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents recently thwarted a human smuggling operation, resulting in the apprehension of 16 migrants. The incident occurred on October 15 at approximately 9:50 p.m., when agents responded to a call from a concerned citizen about suspicious activity near N. Lamar Boulevard and Interamerica.

Upon arrival, agents inspected a parked tractor trailer belonging to a local business. Inside the locked trailer, they found undocumented non-citizens with no means of escape. The agents rescued the 16 migrants and transported them to the Laredo North Station for processing. Record checks revealed that all individuals were in the United States illegally from Mexico.

"CBP’s message for anyone who is thinking of entering the United States unlawfully along the southern border is simple: don’t do it," stated U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). "When migrants cross the border unlawfully, they put their lives in peril."

U.S. Customs and Border Protection describes itself as America's frontline: "the nation's largest law enforcement organization and the world's first unified border management agency." With over 65,000 personnel, CBP aims to protect America across various domains while facilitating safe travel and trade.
