A coalition of aerospace and defense supply chain companies has reached out to President Joe Biden, urging his administration to take action to resolve the ongoing labor strike at The Boeing Company. This appeal comes ahead of a significant vote scheduled for Wednesday.
The Aerospace Industries Association’s Supply Chain Policy and Advocacy Council highlighted the critical need for a "swift resolution" to ensure their survival and safeguard national and economic security. In their letter, they stated, “Because the aerospace supply chain is vast and interconnected, the ramifications of this strike extend beyond a single company, affecting countless suppliers across the nation.”
The council expressed concerns about how continued disruptions could harm the resilience of the supply chain and negatively impact communities reliant on these industries. They noted that many of the 2.21 million Americans employed in the aerospace industry are directly linked to this supply chain.
“Action from your Administration will assist in restoring stability to the aerospace industry and support the aerospace workforce who are essential to its success,” they added. The letter emphasized that "the importance of the American aerospace and defense industry, of which The Boeing Company is a major part, to our country cannot be understated."
