U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael S. Regan is set to visit Durham, North Carolina, on Wednesday, October 23, to celebrate the introduction of 38 new electric school buses in the Durham Public School District. This initiative is part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Investing in America agenda, which aims to deliver environmental benefits and create job opportunities across the country.

Administrator Regan will be joined by U.S. Representative Valerie Foushee (NC-04), Durham Mayor Leonardo Williams, officials from Durham Public Schools, and students for the event at the Southern School of Energy and Sustainability. During his visit, Regan will discuss the impact of clean school buses in North Carolina and participate in a ride along with students and officials.

The event is open to media representatives, although space on the bus ride is limited. The press conference will be streamed live on the EPA's website.

North Carolina has already received $70 million under this program to replace over 230 school buses across 32 districts statewide.

Scheduled participants include Dr. Anthony S. Lewis, Superintendent of Durham Public School District; Jeaneanne Gettle, Acting EPA Region 4 Regional Administrator; Kelly Rivera from Carolina Thomas Bus; Dory Larsen from Southern Alliance for Clean Energy; and community leaders.
