U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Laredo Port of Entry have apprehended a man wanted on a felony warrant issued by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. The arrest took place following a coordinated effort between CBP and state officials.
Port Director Albert Flores commented on the case, stating, “Assault causing bodily injury is a serious offense.” He added that the suspect, who had been evading arrest, was taken into custody without incident.
The individual in question, Jesse Camacho, 34, a U.S. citizen, was detained on Sunday, October 20th at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge. During a secondary inspection process utilizing biometric verification and federal law enforcement databases, CBP officers confirmed his identity and discovered an active felony warrant for assault with intent to inflict bodily injury to a child, elderly person, or disabled individual. Camacho was subsequently transported to Webb County jail where he will await criminal proceedings.
The National Crime Information Center (NCIC), which is an automated database used to share information among law enforcement agencies about outstanding warrants for various offenses, played a role in this arrest. CBP officers frequently rely on NCIC data to apprehend individuals wanted for crimes such as homicide, escape, money laundering, robbery, narcotics distribution, sexual child abuse, fraud, larceny, and military desertion.
It is important to note that criminal charges are allegations until proven guilty in court.
