Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Brian A. Nichols is set to visit Curaçao from October 28-30, 2024. During his visit, he plans to engage with key figures such as Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas and Governor Lucille George-Wout. The discussions will focus on reinforcing collaboration in areas including sustainable economic development, security, and education throughout the Dutch Caribbean.

Nichols' itinerary also includes meetings with civil society representatives, political and business leaders, as well as partner organizations. A significant announcement during this trip will be the expansion of U.S. support for English-language education and teacher training aimed at promoting inclusive higher-education opportunities within Dutch Caribbean communities.
