U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced a new Global Entry partnership with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), making it the 23rd country to join the program. This initiative aims to enhance travel and security cooperation between the two nations.
“This agreement reflects our shared commitment to facilitating secure and efficient travel while enhancing border security for both nations,” stated Diane J. Sabatino, Acting Executive Assistant Commissioner of CBP’s Office of Field Operations. She added that this partnership would make safe, secure travel more accessible for UAE citizens while strengthening diplomatic and economic ties.
The Global Entry program allows pre-vetted, low-risk travelers from partner countries to expedite customs and immigration processing upon entering the United States. UAE citizens will undergo similar background checks as U.S. applicants, including an in-person interview before enrollment. Any breach of the program's terms could lead to enforcement actions and termination of membership privileges.
In addition to UAE, other countries participating in the Global Entry program include Argentina, Bahrain, Brazil, Colombia, Croatia, Dominican Republic, Germany, India, Mexico, Netherlands, Panama, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan, and United Kingdom.
Global Entry is part of Trusted Traveler Programs offered by the Department of Homeland Security. It is popular among millions who benefit from expedited entry services annually. Members also enjoy TSA PreCheck access for quicker security screening at U.S. airports.
The Global Entry Mobile App further streamlines processes by allowing members to complete declarations digitally and update travel information ahead of time. This mobile feature helps reduce congestion at airports while providing flexibility and convenience.
CBP is recognized as America's frontline law enforcement organization with over 65,000 personnel working across various domains to protect national interests through innovation and collaboration.
