The Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT) has collaborated with other civil society organizations to address concerns about data brokers in the financial services industry. These groups have sent a letter urging the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to expedite its rulemaking process regarding the application of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) to data brokers dealing in financial data.
The coalition highlights the potential harm caused by these brokers and advocates for measures to prevent the sale of "credit header" data, which often includes personal and sensitive information.
The full content of their joint letter is available for public review.
