Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken engaged in a conversation with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, according to Spokesperson Matt Miller. The discussion focused on the 2022 Cessation of Hostilities Agreement (COHA), which concluded the two-year conflict between Ethiopia's government and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front.

During the call, Secretary Blinken reiterated U.S. support for Ethiopia's efforts to implement the COHA. He emphasized the importance of political dialogue to resolve other internal conflicts within Ethiopia and expressed concern over increasing violence in Amhara.

The conversation also covered concerns about escalating tensions in the Horn of Africa.
