Weinhold attends G20 culture meeting in Brazil

Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Scott Weinhold, is set to visit Salvador, Brazil from November 6-9. He will attend the G20 Ministers of Culture Meeting as a Senior Bureau Official.

During his visit, Weinhold plans to engage with officials from G20 member and invited countries. His focus will be on reinforcing the United States' commitment to protecting cultural heritage and preventing illicit trafficking of cultural property. He will also hold bilateral meetings, connect with alumni of Department exchange programs, and participate in a panel titled “Music for Diplomacy and Inclusion.” This event is co-hosted by the U.S. Embassy, YouTube, and the Salvador Municipal Secretariat of Culture and Tourism.

The G20 Culture Ministerial serves as a platform for cultural ministers from various countries to discuss policies that promote collaboration and understanding. The forum aims to enhance international cooperation, promote inclusivity, and address challenges within the cultural sector by leveraging culture as a tool for social cohesion and economic growth. Weinhold’s participation highlights the United States’ dedication to multilateral cooperation on an international level.
