Dr. Kevin Roberts, president of The Heritage Foundation and Heritage Action for America, issued a statement regarding the death of Bernie Marcus. Marcus, co-founder of The Home Depot, passed away recently.

"Today we join with the Marcus family and Americans throughout the country in mourning the passing of American patriot Bernie Marcus," Dr. Roberts stated. "Bernie was a generous and humble man who exemplified the American dream. Rising from a modest beginning to cofound The Home Depot, Bernie created countless jobs and opportunities for generations of his employees and Americans working in the home improvement business."

Marcus's contributions extended beyond his business achievements. "His success in business was matched only by his immense generosity to his local community in Georgia," Dr. Roberts noted. Since its founding in 1989, The Marcus Foundation has donated over $2.7 billion through 3,500 grants to various charity organizations.

The foundation's efforts include support for veterans and initiatives aimed at strengthening ties between Christians and Jews, which Dr. Roberts described as inspiring. In recognition of his contributions, Heritage awarded him the Great American Award in 2023.

Dr. Roberts concluded by saying, "Bernie Marcus will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. His story is a true witness to what it means to live The Good Life. May his legacy live on."
