The United States has announced the imposition of sanctions on an entity and an individual associated with Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik's patronage network. The Department of Treasury has designated Elpring d.o.o. Laktasi and Vladimir Perisic for their involvement in attempts to evade U.S. sanctions.

Previously, the U.S. government had sanctioned President Dodik for leveraging his official position to amass personal wealth through companies linked to him and his son, Igor Dodik. This conduct has reportedly eroded public trust in Bosnia and Herzegovina's state institutions and legal framework. The Dodik network is accused of aggressively trying to bypass U.S. sanctions by restructuring corporate entities to obscure control and transferring assets from designated companies.

The recent actions highlight Igor Dodik's alleged efforts to circumvent U.S. sanctions further. "The United States will use all tools at our disposal against those who provide major sources of revenue for President Dodik’s patronage network and enable his efforts to pursue destabilizing activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina," stated Matthew Miller, Department Spokesperson.

These measures are being implemented under Executive Order 14033, titled “Blocking Property and Suspending Entry Into the United States of Certain Persons Contributing to the Destabilizing Situation in the Western Balkans.” Additional details can be found in the Treasury's press release.
