Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken held a conversation with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, as confirmed by Spokesperson Matthew Miller. During the call, Blinken emphasized the critical nature of supporting Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Russia. The discussion also touched upon Russia's recent move to involve DPRK troops in the conflict, which both parties viewed as an escalation.
In addition to the situation in Ukraine, Secretary Blinken expressed continued U.S. support for ending hostilities in Gaza and stressed the importance of securing the release of hostages while increasing humanitarian aid to affected civilians.
The dialogue between Blinken and Lammy also addressed Lebanon's current challenges. Both officials underscored the necessity of pursuing a diplomatic solution that would enable citizens on both sides of the Blue Line to safely return home.
