The U.S. Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division has renewed its memorandum of understanding with the Travis County District Attorney’s Office. This partnership aims to enhance the protection of workers' wages in Travis County, Texas. The agreement focuses on improving enforcement of wage laws and ensuring fair competition among employers.
This collaboration seeks to facilitate joint efforts between the two agencies in areas such as sharing training materials, conducting investigations, and exchanging information pertinent to their responsibilities. The Wage and Hour Division is tasked with enforcing federal requirements related to minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping, and child labor under the Fair Labor Standards Act. Meanwhile, the Travis County District Attorney’s Office handles labor laws concerning employment security and workers’ compensation.
Initially signed in November 2021, this renewed memorandum will last for five years.
