The U.S. Department of Labor has recognized over 800 employers for their dedication to hiring and supporting veterans, presenting them with the 2024 Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Medallion Award. The announcement was made by Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su and Assistant Secretary for Veterans’ Employment and Training James D. Rodriguez during an online ceremony.
During the event, award recipients shared insights on the significance of hiring, retaining, and developing veterans professionally. Acting Secretary Julie Su stated, “The U.S. Department of Labor congratulates the newest recipients of the HIRE Vets Medallion Award and thanks them for their commitment to our nation’s veterans.” She emphasized that the recognized companies understand how military veterans' unique skills contribute to strengthening organizations and the economy.
The HIRE Vets Medallion Program is noted as the only federal-level initiative acknowledging veteran employment efforts by employers. Since its inception, nearly 370,000 veterans have been hired through this program, with more than 71,000 employed by this year's medallion honorees over the past two years.
Assistant Secretary James D. Rodriguez highlighted that “The HIRE Vets Medallion Award is the federal government’s only veteran-hiring award,” adding that recipients must meet rigorous standards and demonstrate significant achievements in supporting veterans. He expressed appreciation for their dedication to providing meaningful employment opportunities for veterans.
