U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Progreso Port of Entry have intercepted 35 pounds of cocaine concealed in a vehicle heading north. The discovery was made on November 11 at the Progreso International Bridge when officers directed a 2013 Dodge for additional inspection. During this secondary examination, which employed a non-intrusive inspection system and canine units, officers uncovered 14 packages containing the alleged cocaine. The estimated street value of the narcotics is $468,302.

Port Director Walter Weaver emphasized the significance of such operations: "Our frontline officers continue to work diligently to safeguard our communities through narcotic interdiction coupled with the effective use of technology," he stated. "A seizure like this exemplifies the importance and necessity of our ongoing border security mission."

Following the seizure, CBP confiscated both the narcotics and the vehicle. Homeland Security Investigations special agents have commenced a criminal investigation into the matter.

CBP encourages following their social media channels for updates on similar incidents and other relevant information.
