Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx expressed strong criticism towards the U.S. Department of Education following the release of its audit results. The department, under Secretary Miguel Cardona, has reportedly failed three consecutive audits.
Foxx stated, "Just in case we needed more proof that Secretary Cardona has failed students, now we have the numbers." She highlighted that despite previous audit failures, there was an expectation for improvement which did not materialize. According to her statement, instead of addressing these issues, the department has focused on student loan programs and aligning with teachers unions.
The chairwoman also mentioned her anticipation for a change in administration. "Thankfully, the Trump administration will arrive soon and be able to clean up the messes created by the Biden-Harris administration," she said. She looks forward to January 20th as a turning point.
