Special Advisor on International Disability Rights, Sara Minkara, is set to visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain from November 19 to 21. During her visit to the UAE, Minkara will participate in the Special Olympics Global Summit in Abu Dhabi. She is scheduled to deliver remarks emphasizing the significance of inclusive education and advocating for a shift in the global narrative toward a value-based model for persons with disabilities.
In addition to her participation in the summit, Minkara will meet with officials in Dubai. The discussions will focus on integrating persons with disabilities into economic and social development initiatives.
Following her engagements in the UAE, Minkara will travel to Bahrain. There, she plans to meet with government officials and civil society representatives. The aim of these meetings is to identify barriers and explore opportunities for enhancing social inclusion for persons with disabilities. This effort builds upon the outcomes of the U.S.-Bahrain Strategic Dialogue held in October 2024.
