The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) has introduced the AI Flight Plan, a pioneering document aimed at establishing best practices for governing the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the aerospace sector. This initiative was announced on November 19, 2024.
"Advanced technology has always been the driving force behind the aerospace industry, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) represents its latest frontier," stated Tim White, AIA’s Vice President of Engineering and Technology. He emphasized AI's growing influence throughout product lifecycles and business operations, highlighting its potential for groundbreaking innovations and efficiencies. White also expressed gratitude towards industry partners for their collaboration on this framework.
Developed by experts within AIA’s membership, the AI Flight Plan addresses key components of an AI governance program specifically designed for the aerospace industry. It focuses on three main areas: enhancing business operations, supporting systems design and development processes, and integrating into delivered products, software, and services.
