Messenger has introduced several new features aimed at enhancing the calling experience for its users. These updates include AI-generated backgrounds, HD video calls, noise suppression, and more.
According to the platform, people worldwide spend over 7 billion minutes on calls across Facebook and Messenger daily. The new features are designed to make calling easier, more reliable, and enjoyable.
One of the highlights is the introduction of AI backgrounds in video calls. Users can personalize their chat themes with unique images generated by Meta AI. To create a personalized background during a video call, users need to tap on the effects icon in the sidebar and select "Backgrounds."
The update also brings HD video calls along with background noise suppression and voice isolation to enhance call clarity. By default, HD will be enabled for video calls made on WiFi. Users can enable HD for cellular data through call settings by turning on "Mobile data for HD video." Noise suppression and voice isolation can also be activated via call settings.
Additionally, Messenger Calling now allows users to leave audio or video messages when their friends are unavailable to answer calls. This feature aims to make Messenger more akin to a fully equipped phone service with added functionalities.
Moreover, hands-free calling and messaging have been integrated into the service. Users can now ask Siri for assistance in making calls or sending messages when their hands are occupied or their phones are out of reach.
These enhancements reflect Messenger's commitment to providing a better communication experience for its users worldwide.
