U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the World Trade Bridge in Laredo, Texas, have seized marijuana valued at over $804,000 on the street. The operation was conducted by the Office of Field Operations.
Port Director Alberto Flores of the Laredo Port of Entry stated, "CBP is proud of the work our frontline officers do to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our communities." He added that this seizure exemplifies their ongoing efforts to protect U.S. borders.
The incident took place on Friday, November 15, when a CBP officer directed a 2023 Chevrolet S10 Max carrying a commercial shipment of seat cushions for further inspection. A canine unit and non-intrusive inspection system were used during this process. Officers discovered 359.79 pounds of suspected marijuana concealed within the shipment. The narcotics are estimated to be worth $804,902 on the street.
Following this discovery, CBP seized the drugs, and Homeland Security Investigations special agents are currently investigating.
