The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), a prominent small business advocacy group in Pennsylvania, has expressed approval for Governor Shapiro's recent action. The governor signed Executive Order 2024-04, which establishes the Pennsylvania Permit Fast Track Program. This initiative is designed to enhance the efficiency of the state's permitting process.
Greg Moreland, NFIB Pennsylvania State Director, stated, "NFIB commends Governor Shapiro for following through on this campaign promise." He emphasized that Pennsylvania has historically lost business opportunities to other states due to its inefficient permitting system. Moreland added, "This Executive Order is welcome recognition that the Commonwealth can do better when dealing with the private sector. When permits are stalled, the Commonwealth and small businesses lose money. This is a welcome, innovative change."
The new program aims to address these issues by expediting permit approvals, potentially benefiting both the state and its businesses financially.
