Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken held a conversation with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr al-Busaidi on November 22, 2024. The discussion took place to extend congratulations to Oman and its citizens on their 54th National Day. Secretary Blinken emphasized the robust bilateral relationship between the United States and Oman.
During the call, both officials addressed the pressing need to secure the release of Yemeni staff from the U.S. embassy in Sana’a, as well as international and non-governmental organization personnel detained by the Houthis. Secretary Blinken expressed his deep concern regarding the treatment and conditions faced by these detainees.
The dialogue also covered ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving a lasting resolution along the Blue Line, fully implementing United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. Additionally, they discussed efforts towards ending the war in Gaza, focusing on securing hostage releases and ensuring a significant increase in humanitarian aid throughout Gaza.
