The United States has extended its congratulations to António Costa, the new President of the European Council, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and Kaja Kallas, High Representative, as well as the new College of Commissioners upon their assumption of office.

In a statement reflecting on the strong ties between the United States and Europe, it was noted that both entities are "steadfast partners who share democratic values and enjoy strong people-to-people connections." The statement expressed an eagerness to collaborate with the new leadership within the Commission and Council, in addition to working with the European Parliament and its President Roberta Metsola along with EU member states.

The statement emphasized that when the United States and European Union cooperate, they "foster global security, prosperity, and democratic values that benefit the world."
