Amazon has reported that its Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday shopping event, which ran from November 21 to December 2, was the largest in its history. This period saw record sales and a high number of items sold compared to previous years.
During the event, customers purchased millions of Echo and Fire TV devices, including the latest models like Echo Dot and Fire TV Stick 4K. In the United States, top-selling categories included Electronics, Toys, and Beauty. Popular items ranged from Beats headphones to Samsung TVs and Medicube beauty devices.
The event was also significant for independent sellers on Amazon's platform, with over 60% of sales coming from these vendors. Many small businesses such as JLab and Blissy experienced strong sales during this period.
Doug Herrington, CEO of Worldwide Amazon Stores, expressed gratitude towards customers for their participation in the holiday shopping event. "We know how much our customers appreciate saving money," he said. He also thanked employees, vendors, and selling partners for their contributions.
An independent study by Profitero found that Amazon offered the lowest online prices leading into the holiday season when compared to other major U.S. retailers. Customers can continue finding deals throughout December with discounts available on brands like Dyson and Sony.
