Survey highlights how small businesses shape communities through support

The NFIB Research Center recently conducted a survey to understand the role of small businesses in their communities. The survey gathered responses from over 600 small business owners nationwide, focusing on three primary areas: financial support, volunteering time, and providing in-kind contributions.

The findings revealed that financial support is the most prevalent way small businesses assist their communities. According to the survey, "Ninety percent of small business owners have financially supported community or civil groups, charities, youth sports programs, schools, religious organizations, or similar activities in the last 12 months."

Volunteering time was also significant among respondents. Approximately 76% of business owners reported they volunteered for various community activities within the past year. Additionally, 63% of participants stated they offered in-kind contributions to community groups and events.

Furthermore, nearly all respondents (95%) indicated that participating in community activities enhances their personal satisfaction and fulfillment. Of these respondents, 43% considered such involvement very important.
