The Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance (DCI) has announced a reduction in workers' compensation rates for the fourth consecutive year. This news was welcomed by the state's small business community.
Brad Jones, NFIB State Director, expressed approval of the announcement, stating, "A reduction in costs is always welcome news to the small business community." He emphasized that investments made by Main Street employers in workplace safety are proving effective. "It’s clear those investments are paying off," he added.
The rate reduction is based on preliminary figures from the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI). The NCCI proposed an overall decrease of 5.3 percent for 2025 workers' compensation loss costs. According to DCI, this decrease between January 1, 2024, and January 1, 2025, is attributed to a decline in average indemnity and medical costs per lost time claim.
