Arlington, Va. – The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) has expressed support for the introduction of the STRATEGIC Minerals Act by Senators Todd Young (R-Ind.), Chris Coons (D-Del.), John Cornyn (R-Texas), and John Hickenlooper (D-Colo.).
Dak Hardwick, AIA Vice President of International Affairs, emphasized the importance of reliable access to critical minerals. "Securing reliable access to critical minerals through both domestic production and international trade with allies is essential to counter U.S. reliance on sourcing from adversaries," he stated. Hardwick noted that these minerals are vital for powering equipment that supports national security objectives, including next-generation aircraft and hypersonic weapons.
The AIA acknowledged the efforts of Senators Young, Coons, Cornyn, and Hickenlooper in securing these critical resources. "AIA appreciates Senators Young, Coons, Cornyn, and Hickenlooper for their leadership to secure these critical minerals, and we look forward to seeing this bill advance through Congress," Hardwick added.
Earlier this year in April, AIA released a document underscoring the necessity of securing the aerospace and defense critical minerals supply chain.
