The Department of Defense has announced a new security assistance package for Ukraine, aiming to provide the necessary tools to combat Russian aggression. The package includes $988 million in support through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI). This funding will supply Ukraine with munitions for rocket systems and Unmanned Aerial Systems, as well as support maintenance and repair programs to help reconstitute forces and sustain combat power.

The assistance package features ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), and equipment, components, and spare parts for maintaining, repairing, and overhauling artillery systems, tanks, and armored vehicles.

This marks the Biden Administration's twenty-second USAI package. The United States continues its collaboration with around 50 allies and partners through the Ukraine Defense Contact Group to ensure that Ukraine receives the necessary support to succeed in the ongoing conflict.
