U.S. District Judge Paul G. Byron has sentenced Joshua Grant Cobb, a 34-year-old resident of Orlando, to 25 years in federal prison. Cobb was found guilty of possessing controlled substances with the intent to distribute and possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. He entered his guilty plea on July 31, 2024.

Court documents revealed that law enforcement identified Cobb as a distributor of methamphetamine and heroin/fentanyl. He reportedly used his residence for drug transactions. A confidential source arranged a controlled purchase of fentanyl at Cobb's home, leading to his detention as he left for the deal. Authorities found him carrying a loaded firearm and 55 grams of a fentanyl mixture.

A search warrant executed at Cobb's residence uncovered over 700 grams of methamphetamine, nearly 350 grams of fentanyl mixtures, $4,000 in cash, drug processing materials and equipment, and six additional loaded firearms. The court ordered the forfeiture of these firearms and ammunition.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Brevard County Sheriff's Office. Assistant United States Attorney Megan Testerman prosecuted the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. On May 26, 2021, the Department launched an enhanced violent crime reduction strategy under PSN focusing on fostering community trust, supporting preventive community-based organizations, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.
