HUD hosts ConnectHomeUSA Summit addressing digital divide

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is hosting the 2024 ConnectHomeUSA Summit from December 10-12. This event will bring together representatives from ConnectHomeUSA Sites nationwide, along with federal broadband leaders and organizations from various sectors, to discuss strategies for reducing the digital divide in HUD-assisted communities.

ConnectHomeUSA plays a crucial role in promoting digital access within these communities. Earlier this year, it expanded to include 97 new communities encompassing Public Housing Authorities, Multi-Family owners and operators, Tribes/Tribally Designated Entities, and HUD Continuum of Care and Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS grantees.

This year's summit will feature the inaugural presentation of the ConnectHomeUSA Trailblazer Award. This award acknowledges communities that have shown exceptional dedication to digital equity. The recipients are the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh.

“HUD is committed to advancing digital access to the people who need it the most. We are proud to acknowledge the work of our partners who are bridging the gap in affordable broadband internet,” stated HUD Agency Head, The Honorable Adrianne Todman. “The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh are two communities that have worked tirelessly to make sure families in their communities are connected to the digital tools they need to thrive.”
