Iowa election sees success for pro-small business candidates

The recent election results in Iowa indicate a strong preference for candidates who support small business policies. The NFIB Iowa PAC had endorsed 70 candidates committed to such policies, and 67 of them emerged victorious on Election Night, marking a success rate of 96%.

NFIB Iowa State Director Matt Everson commented on the outcome: “The message was sent loud and clear in Iowa that pro-small business candidates are the preferred candidates of the mass majority of the voters.” He expressed eagerness to collaborate with legislators to reduce costs for small businesses by lowering taxes and removing unnecessary regulations.

In state politics, Republicans gained three seats in the Iowa House, resulting in a 67-33 majority. The Iowa Senate also saw an increase in Republican seats, now standing at 35-15.

On a federal level, all four congressional seats from Iowa will remain under Republican control. These representatives—Nunn, Miller-Meeks, Hinson, and Feenstra—were supported by NFIB endorsements. Nationally, the U.S. House will continue with a Republican majority of 221-214.

While Senators Grassley and Ernst were not up for re-election this year, the U.S. Senate is set to shift to Republican control with a projected majority of 53-47 in 2025.
