The New Orleans Sector of the United States Border Patrol has reported several successful enforcement actions in collaboration with various law enforcement agencies. These operations have led to significant seizures and arrests.

In a recent operation, the Lake Charles Border Patrol Station worked with the Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office to seize over $150,000 as part of an initiative targeting the Latin Kings gang. One gang associate was arrested during this operation.

The Mobile, Alabama Border Patrol Station played a role in a large-scale drug trafficking investigation alongside United States Postal Service Inspectors, resulting in the seizure of 10 pounds of methamphetamine. Additionally, Mobile Border Patrol led Operation Smokey, which uncovered nearly $1 million in alleged criminal proceeds hidden within a tractor trailer's cab. The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office also participated in this operation.

At the Gulfport, Mississippi Station, Border Patrol Agents assisted local law enforcement in seizing nearly $50,000 in illicit funds linked to criminal activities. In another effort, Gulfport agents helped seize $120,000 from alleged criminal activities.

Over the past six months, the New Orleans Border Patrol Sector has seized or aided in seizing more than $5.2 million. The sector reports a 262% increase in apprehensions during Fiscal Year 2025 compared to the same period in Fiscal Year 2024.

Acting New Orleans Border Patrol Sector Chief Robert B. Simon stated: “Our brave men and women of the United States Border Patrol are successfully attacking illicit threats every day from a variety of dangerous, criminal networks.” He emphasized that these actions contribute to community safety by addressing threats through drug and money seizures and arrests of dangerous gang members.

The New Orleans Border Patrol Sector covers a seven-state area including Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, and part of Florida's panhandle. It encompasses 592 counties and parishes over approximately 362,310 square miles. The sector's main office is located in New Orleans with stations also situated in Lake Charles and Baton Rouge (Louisiana), Gulfport (Mississippi), and Mobile (Alabama).
