A new series, "East Palace" (WT), is set to debut on Netflix, promising viewers an exploration into a world filled with ghosts and spirits. The show is penned by Kwon So-ra and Seo Jea-won, known for their work on "Bulgasal: Immortal Souls," and directed by Choi Jung-kyu of "The Devil Judge."
Nam Joo-hyuk, recognized for his roles in "Twenty Five Twenty One," "Start-up," and "The School Nurse Files," leads the cast as Gu-cheon. His character possesses the ability to navigate the ghostly realm and vanquish spirits with his sword. He infiltrates a cursed palace to investigate mysterious events, discovering a dark world beyond his expectations.
Joining him is Roh Yoon-seo, who has appeared in "Crash Course in Romance," "20th Century Girl," and "Our Blues." She portrays Saeng-gang, a court lady who can hear ghosts—a skill she once considered a curse but now uses to help unravel the palace's mysteries alongside Gu-cheon while harboring her own secret.
Cho Seung-woo, known from projects like "Divorce Attorney Shin," "Sisyphus," "Life," and "Stranger," plays the King. He discreetly recruits Gu-cheon and Saeng-gang to address the palace's curse. Although he is portrayed as a benevolent ruler, there are complexities to his character.
As Gu-cheon and Saeng-gang delve into the palace's secrets at the King's behest, viewers are left wondering what deep truths will emerge. The anticipation builds for this upcoming release exclusively on Netflix.
