The Heritage Foundation has announced the opening of applications for its Freedom and Opportunity Academic Prizes. This initiative, now in its third year, is designed to support research aligned with the foundation's values in higher education.

Applications are open until March 3, 2025. The prizes, ranging from $15,000 to $20,000, are available to full-time and adjunct faculty members at U.S. colleges, universities, or seminaries. Eligible applicants should be engaged in research and teaching that advance Heritage's priority policy issues and broader topics related to freedom and opportunity. In addition, with the Semiquincentennial of the United States approaching, The Heritage Foundation is particularly interested in work related to the American Founding that celebrates America's 250th anniversary. Prize winners will also have the opportunity to attend a Summer Colloquium and Workshop.

Dr. Kevin Roberts, president of The Heritage Foundation, expressed concern about the current state of academia: "American academia is in crisis. Faculty who seek to champion timeless principles—like economic freedom, human dignity, and constitutional self-government—are being silenced by an academic elite more interested in pushing ideology than pursuing Truth." He emphasized the importance of these prizes as an investment in scholars committed to advancing research supporting liberty and human flourishing.

Applications can be submitted until 11:59 p.m. on March 3, 2025.
