On December 17, Deputy Secretary Campbell, Principal Deputy National Security Advisor Jon Finer, and Indian Ambassador to the United States Vinay Mohan Kwatra visited Houston, Texas. The purpose of their visit was to review the progress in U.S.-India space cooperation and discuss future steps to enhance this bilateral partnership.
During their visit, the officials met with representatives from NASA and ISRO. They included two ISRO astronauts currently training at NASA's Johnson Space Center for a proposed mission to the International Space Station in 2025. Discussions also covered plans for launching a jointly developed NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar Earth Science (NISAR) satellite in 2025.
The delegation also engaged with private sector representatives from the space industry. Their discussions focused on exploring innovative methods for strengthening collaboration between U.S. and Indian commercial space sectors.
