Todd Baldwin, a former coach and teaching assistant at Valley Christian High School in San Jose, appeared in federal court on charges related to enticing minors and receiving child pornography. Baldwin, 44, who currently resides in Bremerton, Washington, was initially charged by complaint on October 10, 2024, followed by an information charge on November 19, 2024.

The complaint against Baldwin alleges that he enticed two minor boys from the high school to produce child sexual abuse materials between December 2022 and August 2023. It is claimed that Baldwin offered money to these minors and recruited others for creating such materials for online resale. The complaint also states that some of these exploited minors were labeled as his "Teacher Assistants." He faces charges under U.S. law for enticement of minors and receipt of child pornography.

In legal proceedings like this one, the information merely suggests crimes have occurred; all defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt. If found guilty, Baldwin could face life imprisonment with a minimum term of ten years. Additional penalties may include a $250,000 fine, supervised release terms, and restitution.

Baldwin surrendered to authorities in San Jose on October 28, 2024. After his initial court appearance the same day, he was released conditionally. His next court date before Judge Beth Labson Freeman is scheduled for February 4, 2025.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Ismail J. Ramsey alongside FBI Special Agent Robert K. Tripp. Assistant U.S. Attorney Marissa Harris is handling the prosecution with help from Sahib Kaur. The case follows an investigation conducted by the FBI along with the San Jose Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Squad.
