Michigan man sentenced to prison for distributing fentanyl

Mannie Lamar Terry, a 37-year-old resident of Ypsilanti, Michigan, was sentenced to two years and one month in prison for distributing fentanyl. Following his prison term, he will undergo three years of supervised release.

The sentence was delivered by Chief United States District Judge Frank W. Volk. Terry's conviction stems from his sale of approximately 4.5 grams of fentanyl for $300 to a confidential informant in Beckley on February 27 and March 13, 2023.

Terry's criminal record includes convictions for assault with intent to cause great bodily harm, possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a concealed weapon, and several controlled substance possession offenses.

United States Attorney Will Thompson announced the sentencing and praised the efforts of the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit. This unit comprises officers from the West Virginia State Police, Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department, and Beckley Police Department.

Assistant United States Attorneys Andrew D. Isabell and Brian D. Parsons prosecuted the case against Terry.
