Jesse Taber, a 46-year-old resident of Rotterdam, New York, has pled guilty to the unlawful possession of a firearm. The announcement was made by United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman and Bryan Miller, Special Agent in Charge of the New York Field Division of the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).
Taber admitted to possessing a 12-gauge Stoeger Coach Gun shotgun inside his residence on December 26, 2023. Due to a prior felony conviction, he was prohibited from lawfully owning the firearm.
The sentencing for Taber is scheduled for April 2, 2025. He could face up to 15 years in prison, a fine reaching $250,000, and a supervised release term lasting up to three years. Sentencing decisions are made by a judge based on specific statutes violated by the defendant, U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, and other relevant factors.
The ATF conducted the investigation with support from the Rotterdam Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Rick Belliss is handling the prosecution.
