Hamidullah Tribble, a 29-year-old resident of Chicago, Illinois, has been sentenced to 100 months in prison. The sentence was handed down by United States District Court Judge Philip P. Simon after a jury found Tribble guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The trial lasted two days.

Following his prison term, Tribble will undergo two years of supervised release. According to case documents, the incident occurred on July 19, 2022, when law enforcement attempted to stop Tribble's vehicle in LaPorte County, Indiana. He fled at high speed, reaching over 100 miles per hour and weaving through traffic. The chase extended into Lake County where he collided with both a semi-trailer and another vehicle. Upon arresting him, officers found a loaded semi-automatic pistol in his waistband.

Tribble's criminal record includes previous felony convictions in Illinois for possessing a firearm with a defaced serial number, possession of a stolen vehicle, and criminal sexual abuse. These convictions legally prohibit him from possessing firearms or ammunition.

The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Indiana High Intensity Drug Trafficking Task Force along with the Lake County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant United States Attorney Kristian R. Mukoski prosecuted the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. The Department launched an enhanced violent crime reduction strategy on May 26, 2021, which focuses on fostering community trust and legitimacy while supporting organizations that prevent violence.
