Wilburton man pleads guilty to federal firearm possession charge

Charles Henry Lawrence, a 57-year-old resident of Wilburton, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to a federal firearm charge. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma confirmed that Lawrence admitted to one count of illegal possession of a firearm.

According to the indictment, on November 11, 2022, Lawrence was found in possession of a revolver and a rifle despite having been previously convicted of a crime with a potential prison sentence exceeding one year.

The investigation leading to these charges was conducted by the Latimer County Sheriff’s Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Jason A. Robertson accepted Lawrence's plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. He ordered that a presentence investigation report be completed. Until sentencing, Lawrence will remain under the custody of the United States Marshals Service.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jonathan E. Soverly.
